Position Overview

The Senior Estimator plays a critical role in the preconstruction phase, managing the process from inception to completion for assigned projects. This position requires a forward-thinking leader with strong time management skills and deep experience in estimating processes that deliver accurate, efficient results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety: Uphold health and safety standards at all times.
  • Client Engagement: Represent the company professionally with clients, subcontractors, and vendors; participate in meetings and presentations; collaborate on proposals.
  • Operational Excellence: Provide accurate, timely estimates; review specifications and drawings; develop estimating strategies; recommend value engineering options; coordinate with internal resources.
  • Financial Management: Prepare bid documents; review subcontractor/vendor quotes; maintain organized estimate files; collaborate with leadership on pricing.
  • Team Development: Support and mentor estimating staff; coordinate resource requirements; engage in continuous improvement and collaboration.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 8 years of estimating or construction experience in the heavy civil market.
  • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Agtek).
  • Strong math, computer, and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry-standard cost accounting, estimating, and project management practices.
  • Ability to manage diverse project types and maintain trust within teams.
