The Lead Substation Engineer will be responsible for…
Developing substation physical design packages, including:
General Arrangement (GA) drawings
Plans and sections
Control house layouts
Physical equipment details
Designing and coordinating:
Grounding systems
Lightning protection systems
Cable conduit and trench layouts
Preparing:
Material lists / Bill of Materials (BOM)
Construction specifications
Ensuring designs meet industry standards (IEEE, NEC, etc.)
Providing technical leadership and oversight for design deliverables
Supporting project management activities, including schedule, scope, and coordination
Serving as a lead engineer on projects, guiding junior engineers and designers
The Lead Substation Engineer should have the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or related Engineering field
8+ years of experience in substation physical design
PE license (required)
Strong experience with:
Substation layout and equipment arrangement
Ground grid design and lightning protection
Conduit, trench, and cable routing design
Proven lead engineering and project management skills
Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC)
