Principal Ecologist (BAM) - Australia

We are currently working closely with several leading environmental consultancies who are specializing in ecological, conservation planning, and biodiversity offsetting. The team is dedicated to providing high-quality scientific and engineering services across riparian, terrestrial, and aquatic environments. Due to recent project success, the companies are hiring and seeking a BAM Accredited Ecologist. In this role, you will manage and deliver ecological and environmental projects, conduct field investigations and surveys, and prepare comprehensive ecological and impact assessments. You will also coordinate proposals, tenders, and bids for new projects, ensuring compliance with relevant state and Commonwealth legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting field investigations and surveys using industry-standard methods.
  • Applying botanical identification skills and experience with BAM assessments.
  • Preparing and leading ecological and impact assessments, vegetation management plans, and biodiversity assessments.
  • Coordinating and developing proposals, tenders, and bids for new projects.
  • Managing and delivering ecological and environmental projects.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • BAM accreditation or capacity to attain accreditation.
  • Strong understanding of Biodiversity Assessment Methodology survey guidelines and report preparation.
  • Working knowledge of New South Wales and Commonwealth environmental legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and work in remote locations.
