Professional Land Surveyor
Position Summary
A licensed land surveyor is needed to lead and support the growth of a civil engineering and surveying team. This role involves managing both field and office survey operations, overseeing a variety of projects such as ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, boundary and construction surveys, and mapping tasks. The position includes project oversight, scheduling, quality assurance, and mentoring staff, with a focus on delivering accurate and timely results.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate field crews and office staff on multiple survey projects
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
- Conduct and review survey calculations, legal descriptions, and mapping products
- Ensure consistent field and office procedures for high-quality outcomes
- Provide training and technical guidance to team members
- Perform deed and right-of-way research and coordinate with utility locators
- Prepare and verify plats, easement exhibits, and aerial imagery
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional land surveying experience
- Licensed Professional Surveyor or ability to obtain licensure
- Valid driver's license
- Strong understanding of modern surveying methods and technologies
- Experience with topographic, boundary, and construction staking
- Skilled in preparing ALTA surveys, plats, and legal documentation
Preferred Skills
- Proficient with GPS, robotic total stations, and traditional survey tools
- Experience managing multiple crews and office personnel
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Trimble Access, and Trimble Business Center
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to mentor and support junior staff
