Project Engineering Manager - Transmission Line
Role Overview:
As the Project Engineering Manager - Transmission Design, you will lead the engineering design efforts for large-scale transmission line and substation projects. You'll be responsible for managing multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring technical accuracy, and aligning engineering outputs with project execution strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design phase of transmission EPC projects (69kV to 500kV), including overhead lines and substations.
- Manage and coordinate internal and external engineering resources across civil, structural, electrical, and protection disciplines.
- Oversee the development of design packages, including route selection, structure design, conductor sizing, grounding, and protection schemes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes (NESC, IEEE, ASCE), utility standards, and permitting requirements.
- Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to ensure design constructability and cost-effectiveness.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Support client meetings, design reviews, and regulatory submissions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
- PE license required or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- 8+ years of experience in transmission system design, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Deep understanding of transmission line and substation design principles, tools (e.g., PLS-CADD, ETAP), and standards.
- Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills.
