Sales Development Representative (SDR) - Natural Gas & Electricity
Location: Chicago, IL (Local candidates only)
Compensation: $50,000-$80,000 base + commission
Employment Type: 1099 Contractor
About the Role
We're seeking a motivated Sales Development Representative (SDR) with at least 2 years of experience in the deregulated natural gas and electricity markets. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow into an Account Manager/closer position and take on a greater share of the sales cycle over time.
You'll focus on building pipeline, generating qualified leads, and setting up opportunities for senior sellers-while gaining hands-on experience that prepares you to move into a closing role.
What You'll Do
- Prospect, identify, and qualify new C&I customers in deregulated energy markets
- Generate outbound leads via phone, email, LinkedIn, and industry networking
- Set appointments and create high-quality opportunities for Account Managers
- Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and activity records
- Support deal strategy, pricing requests, and customer handoff to the closing team
- Learn and grow into managing the full sales cycle with mentorship and support
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in commercial natural gas and electricity sales, brokerage, or related energy services
- Strong understanding of deregulated energy markets and customer procurement needs
- "Hunter" mentality with comfort in high-volume outreach
- Strong communication, professionalism, and relationship-building skills
- Coachable, ambitious, and eager to transition into a closing role
- Located in the Chicago area (required)
Compensation & Structure
- Base Salary: $50,000-$80,000 (depending on experience)
- Commission: Competitive uncapped commission structure
- Status: 1099 Independent Contractor
