Overview
A well-established, multi-discipline engineering firm is re-launching its Civil Engineering practice in Seattle and is seeking a Senior Discipline Civil Engineer to help build and lead the group from the ground up.
This is a high-impact leadership role intended for a proven technical professional who is motivated to shape a team, strengthen client relationships, expand market presence, and grow a civil practice within a collaborative, multi-discipline office environment. The position offers clear leadership responsibility and a potential pathway to senior management and ownership (subject to company policies).
The firm operates nationally with multiple offices and delivers integrated engineering services across commercial, institutional, governmental, industrial, healthcare, energy, and specialty markets.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of civil engineers, designers, and technical staff
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture
- Manage civil engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget adherence
- Provide technical oversight and quality control of designs, studies, reports, and construction documents
- Act as a technical subject matter expert in civil engineering design, regulatory compliance, and industry standards
- Identify, pursue, and support new business opportunities
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships with private and public-sector stakeholders
- Lead proposal development, scope definition, and contract negotiations
- Monitor project financial performance and implement process improvements
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Washington State PE registration (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Oregon PE registration preferred
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive civil/site engineering experience, including:
- Preparing fee-based and qualifications-based proposals
- Managing multiple concurrent projects
- Leading design teams
- Managing budgets and project schedules
- Coordinating with multi-discipline design teams
- Mentoring junior engineers
- Client management and relationship development
- Technical experience with:
- Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
- Technical studies and mapping documents
- Civil construction documents
- Earthwork calculations
- Stormwater design experience in Western Washington strongly preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and client service skills
- Demonstrated interest in business development and practice growth
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating with multi-discipline architectural and engineering teams
- Strong connections within the local A/E/C community
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and related software
- Project experience in Industrial, Federal, Alternative Energy, or Energy Storage markets
- Experience designing public utilities
- Experience serving as a prime consultant
- Knowledge of zoning entitlements and permit procurement
- Experience collaborating across multiple office locations to balance workload
- Experience as a primary point of contact for internal and external clients
- Participation in local professional organizations
- Specification preparation experience
