Senior Environmental Planner

An established and growing environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner with extensive CEQA expertise to lead complex planning and permitting projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. About the Role

In this senior-level position, you will manage CEQA compliance for a variety of public and private sector projects, including infrastructure, land development, restoration, and conservation initiatives. The company offers a collaborative and flexible work environment, a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary teamwork, and a track record of delivering high-impact projects-attributes shared by some of the Bay Area's most respected environmental firms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage CEQA documentation efforts (EIRs, MNDs, Initial Studies, Addenda, etc.)

  • Provide strategic regulatory guidance and interface with clients, agencies, and stakeholders

  • Oversee internal and external teams to ensure technical accuracy, quality control, and timely delivery

  • Contribute to proposals, scope development, and business development initiatives

  • Mentor junior staff and support professional development across the team

  • Engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration with biologists, ecologists, and restoration specialists

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or related field

  • 7+ years of experience preparing and managing CEQA documents

  • Demonstrated success managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders

  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills

  • Familiarity with other California and federal environmental regulations (NEPA, ESA, CWA, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • AICP certification or equivalent professional credentials

  • Experience with habitat restoration, conservation, or mitigation planning

  • GIS or mapping experience a plus

  • Prior work on Bay Area public infrastructure or community development projects

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $115,000 - $155,000 annually, depending on experience
