Salary: $90,000 - $140,000
Position Overview:
A leading environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager to lead environmental permitting and compliance efforts for energy and infrastructure projects across New York State. This role focuses on electric transmission, battery energy storage, and natural gas projects. The position combines technical leadership, project management, client interaction, and team mentorship. The ideal candidate will contribute to both project execution and business development initiatives while supporting practice growth and strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead permitting efforts under NYSDEC Articles 15 & 24, Article 94-c, Part 102, and Article VIII.
- Develop and manage permitting strategies, project schedules, and agency coordination.
- Interface directly with NYSDEC, USACE, DPS, and local regulatory agencies.
- Oversee wetland delineations, ecological surveys, and environmental compliance inspections.
- Represent clients at public hearings, stakeholder meetings, and regulatory forums.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to internal team development.
- Support proposal development and client relationship growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting or energy/infrastructure sectors.
- Demonstrated experience with New York State permitting, including NYSDEC and SEQR processes.
- Experience with renewable energy, electric transmission, or linear infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in a client-facing Project Manager role.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Strong familiarity with NYSDEC Article 94-c permitting.
- Established credibility working with regulatory agencies.
- Collaborative leadership style with mentoring experience.
- Ability to balance technical project management and business development responsibilities.
- Interest in greater autonomy, leadership influence, and long-term career growth.
