Senior Mechanical Engineer - Power Generation Design

Role Overview

In this position, you will support the development and evaluation of electric power generation projects by providing engineering expertise, conceptual design input, and owner's engineer services. The role involves conducting technical reviews, assessing mechanical systems, supporting project development activities, and contributing to economic and risk analyses.

You will take part in engineering design assessments, feasibility studies, conceptual project planning, and technical due diligence. Experience in mechanical design related to conventional power generation technologies is strongly preferred.

This role also offers opportunities to travel both domestically and internationally.


Required Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the electric power sector, including hands-on mechanical design work for conventional power facilities such as:
    • Simple-cycle gas turbines
    • Combined-cycle power plants
    • Coal-fired generation systems
    • Steam cycle systems
    • Reciprocating engine (RICE) installations
  • Experience providing development support and conceptual engineering for conventional power projects.
  • Strong technical communication abilities, including clear engineering writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in technical due diligence or owner's engineering reviews for power generation projects.
  • Familiarity with power plant operations, performance evaluations, and process design fundamentals.
  • Exposure to project economics, cost analysis, and contract development.
  • Knowledge of international engineering codes and standards.
