Position Overview
As a Senior Roadway Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of complex roadway and transportation projects for state, municipal, and private clients. You'll play a key role in mentoring junior staff, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring technical excellence from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead roadway design projects from preliminary engineering through final design
- Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with ODOT and local agency standards
- Oversee geometric design, horizontal and vertical alignments, traffic control, and drainage coordination
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communications
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Coordinate with survey, environmental, and structural teams to ensure integrated project delivery
- Support proposal development and business development efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Ohio or ability to obtain within 6 months
- 8+ years of roadway design experience, including ODOT or municipal projects
- Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of AASHTO, ODOT, and MUTCD design standards
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
