Structural Engineer
A nationally respected engineering firm is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its Construction Engineering Practice in Los Angeles. This is a senior-level opportunity for professionals with deep technical expertise and a passion for solving complex construction challenges in real time.
This role is ideal for engineers who want to apply their structural knowledge to construction means and methods, working directly with contractors to push the boundaries of scale, complexity, and schedule on some of the most demanding projects in the country.
Role Overview
As a Construction Engineering Project Manager, you'll lead efforts in designing and managing temporary structural systems that support buildings during construction. You'll work on projects involving:
- Steel erection engineering
- Excavation shoring design
- Connection design
- Heavy lift engineering
- On-call support for general contractors on both new and existing buildings
You'll also play a key role in growing the Construction Engineering practice in the region, building relationships with contractors and generating a sustainable pipeline of work.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage construction engineering projects from concept through execution
- Serve as a technical resource for contractors and project teams
- Oversee and mentor junior engineers, designers, and BIM drafters
- Produce and review structural construction documents including drawings and specifications
- Prepare proposals, scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Maintain and grow client relationships to support repeat business
- Actively participate in practice area meetings and strategic initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)
- 7+ years of relevant experience, ideally with a focus on construction means and methods
- California PE license required; SE license preferred
- Proven ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with contractors and project teams
- Experience in business development or client-facing roles is a plus
