Survey Technician | Instrument Operator | Lawrenceville, NJ
My client is seeking a Survey Technician to join their Land Surveying Department in Lawrenceville, NJ. Applicant must be a responsible, motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong technical and computer skills, and able to work in a team environment in the office and in the field.
DUTIES:
- Assist in planning, organizing and directing survey crew work
- Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe work performed
- Reduce field notes
- Supervise the maintenance of instruments and equipment
- Reduce and analyze GNSS data for control networks
- Import field and analyze field data
- Register and extract data from point clouds
- Adjust conventional traverse and digital level data
- Prepare control and survey reports
- Prepare survey related plans meeting department and client specifications
- Coordinate with CAD technicians, other surveyors, and department manager to prepare the final deliverable
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Three to five years of experience doing the following:
- Operation of survey equipment such as total stations, data collectors, levels and (GPS)
- Using software to download survey data from data collectors
- Using survey adjustment software (Trimble Business Center and Leica Infinity)
- Analyzing and extracting data from point clouds
- Using Microstation with InRoads or AutoCAD Civil3D
- Route surveying using various methods
- Certified Survey Technician Level III preferred
- Familiar with NYCDOT, NYSDOT, PANYNJ or similar state agency survey standards
- Familiar with USGS and NGS survey standards
- TopoDOT experience a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work on construction sites in NY weather
- Willing and able to work overtime and to travel for out-of-town assignments
