Technical Services Manager & Project Manager

The Technical Services Manager & Project Manager is responsible for ensuring all incoming electrical and mechanical design packages are thoroughly reviewed, validated, and translated into accurate manufacturing documentation. This role serves as a key liaison between engineering, production, quality, and customers-driving technical accuracy, efficient execution, and successful project delivery.


Core Responsibilities - Technical Services

  • Oversee all technical documentation and manufacturing engineering support for electrical panels and modular assemblies.
  • Lead detailed drawing reviews, Bill of Materials (BOM) verification, and development of fabrication and assembly instructions.
  • Establish and maintain documentation standards, traveler routes, and quality checkpoints.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Project Management to ensure timely, error‑free builds.
  • Mentor technicians and junior engineering personnel on documentation practices and fabrication expectations.
  • Conduct root‑cause analyses and implement corrective actions for technical production issues.
  • Support the hiring, onboarding, and skill development of future technical services team members.

Core Responsibilities - Project Management

Under the direction of Operations Leadership, manages day‑to‑day execution of assigned projects ranging from approximately $50K to $5M+, ensuring schedule adherence, scope clarity, and financial performance.

  • Learn and apply skills in interpreting technical and commercial contract documents.
  • Review, interpret, and validate drawings and specifications associated with assigned projects.
  • Ensure all project team members clearly understand the organization's contractual responsibilities.
  • Assist in developing standardized project communication and documentation (RFIs, transmittals, submittals, change requests, project plans, status updates, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain project schedules per internal and customer requirements.
  • Track progress and document deviations, risks, and required changes.
  • Manage purchasing activities and subcontractor requirements for assigned projects.
  • Develop cost estimates and proposals for scope changes; negotiate approved change orders.
  • Develop and implement project cash‑flow plans and manage A/R collections.
  • Provide timely updates on budgets, forecasts, scope changes, and schedule.
  • Serve as the primary customer interface during project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Occasional travel (up to 5%) for pre‑bid meetings and client engagements.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (BSEE preferred).
  • Associate degree with significant applicable experience may be considered.
  • PE or PMP certification preferred but not required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical drawings and technical specifications.
  • Team‑oriented with willingness to learn and adapt to evolving processes.
  • Background in electrical utility protection, control systems, or related technical industries.
  • Experience with electric utilities, panel manufacturing, project execution, technical services, or quality roles (5-7+ years).
