Traffic Engineer / Transportation Planner (PE or AICP Track)
Location: Houston, TX (Growth Market)
Compensation: $120,000-$150,000 + full benefits
About the Role
We are seeking a senior Traffic Engineer / Transportation Planner to help lead the firm's expansion beyond major event planning into traditional transportation and mobility work across Texas. This is a high‑impact, growth‑oriented role with a clear long‑term path to Houston office leadership for the right individual.

Strategic Focus Areas
You will play a key role in expanding and delivering work across:
- TxDOT transportation projects
- County and municipal transportation planning
- Traffic Impact Analyses (TIA/TIAS)
- Sustainable, multimodal, and livable communities planning
- Traditional traffic engineering and modeling supporting development and public-sector clients
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Project Leadership
- Lead and deliver Traffic Impact Analyses (TIAs) from scoping through final approval
- Independently sign and seal TIAs (if PE track)
- Perform and oversee traffic engineering and operational analysis, including modeling (Synchro proficiency expected without hand-holding)
- Support multimodal and livable communities planning efforts, including corridor studies and long-range plans
- Maintain high standards for technical quality, documentation, and visualization
Client & Team Leadership
- Serve as a primary client interface for public- and private-sector projects
- Lead and mentor junior engineers and planners
- Manage schedules, budgets, and consultant teams
- Contribute to business development and help grow the Houston market
- Collaborate closely with leadership on strategic growth initiatives
Ideal Background
Required
- 8+ years of experience in transportation consulting
- Background in traffic engineering, transportation planning, or a hybrid role
- Proven ability to work independently and lead projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable in a client-facing, leadership-oriented role
Preferred (One or More)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) - recently obtained or within the past few years
- Experience delivering and sealing TIAs independently
- AICP certification or strong multimodal / livable communities planning background
- Experience with HAC-style or regional transportation planning
- Demonstrated ability to manage consultant teams and mentor staff

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $120,000-$150,000 (target range)
