A leading consulting firm in the transportation and construction sector is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor I or II to support infrastructure projects in the South-Central Pennsylvania region. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with a background in highway or bridge construction inspection, particularly those familiar with state-level transportation standards.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will oversee field inspection activities, ensuring compliance with contract documents and construction standards. This position involves direct coordination with contractors, field personnel, design teams, and public agencies to ensure quality and timely delivery of infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise inspection teams and construction activities
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and standards
- Serve as a liaison between stakeholders including contractors, agencies, and community representatives
- Review project plans and provide technical guidance
- Monitor schedules and recommend adjustments
- Participate in project meetings and pre-construction planning sessions
Qualifications
Candidates may qualify through one of the following pathways:
Option 1:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in transportation inspection at a supervisory level
- Possession of all three certifications:
- Concrete Technician Certification
- Field Technician Certification
- NICET Level II or higher in Highway Construction
Option 2:
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory inspection experience
- NICET Level III or higher in Highway Construction
- Plus one of the following:
- Concrete Technician Certification or Field Technician Certification
Option 3:
- Minimum 4 years of supervisory inspection experience
- Any two of the three certifications listed above
Option 4:
- Minimum 5 years of transportation/highway/bridge inspection experience
- All three certifications or NICET Level IV in Highway Construction
Option 5:
- Minimum 6 years of supervisory experience in transportation infrastructure inspection
Education Substitutions:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management = 4 years experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License = substitutes for all NICET certifications
- Associate's Degree = 2 years experience
Preferred Backgrounds
Candidates with experience in:
- Construction contracting
- Military engineering or technical roles
- Surveying and field inspection
