Accident Reconstruction Specialist
Our client is seeking an experienced Accident Reconstruction Specialist to join their growing forensic engineering team in Southern California. This role is ideal for someone who has spent several years deeply involved in collision analysis, technical investigations, and expert witness work. The team supports a wide range of cases involving transportation incidents, vehicle dynamics, human factors, roadway conditions, and high stakes litigation matters. The ideal candidate enjoys digging into the details, interpreting evidence, and translating complex findings into clear, defensible conclusions for both technical and non technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive accident reconstruction investigations for collisions involving passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, pedestrians, and specialized equipment
- Analyze physical evidence, vehicle damage, scene data, roadway characteristics, electronic data recorders, and photogrammetry
- Develop detailed technical reports, summaries, and visual presentations that clearly explain findings
- Serve as an expert witness in depositions and trials, representing conclusions with confidence and clarity
- Collaborate with engineers, legal teams, insurance professionals, and other technical specialists
- Perform site inspections, vehicle inspections, and evidence reviews
- Assist with case strategy, timeline reconstruction, and scenario modeling
- Maintain meticulous documentation to ensure the accuracy and defensibility of all work produced
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of dedicated accident reconstruction experience
- Proven experience serving as an expert witness, including testifying in depositions and court
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to analyze complex data and communicate findings in a clear and relatable way
- Comfortable handling multiple cases with varying levels of complexity
- Local to Southern California with knowledge of regional traffic patterns and roadway environments
- ACTAR certification is a strong plus but not required
