About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing company in the energy and infrastructure sector, backed by strong capital resources and positioned for long-term expansion. The business offers a high level of autonomy, broad responsibility, and the opportunity to directly influence operational and financial processes during a stage of active growth.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accountant with hands-on expertise in SPC (Special Purpose Company) accounting and a solid understanding of the energy and infrastructure industries. The ideal candidate is capable of working independently, setting up financial processes and systems from the ground up, and serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO.

This role suits someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, values ownership, and enjoys being part of a business at a pivotal scaling phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all SPC accounting operations, including bookkeeping, financial statements, reporting packages, cash management, and compliance.
  • Oversee accounting activities across the business and establish best‑practice accounting processes, policies, and internal controls.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with Japanese accounting standards; support consolidation processes as needed.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other stakeholders.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for both corporate and SPC entities.
  • Lead the setup and optimisation of financial systems, workflows, and internal structures as the organisation grows.
  • Work closely with the CEO to provide analysis, insights, and strategic recommendations related to financial performance, investment vehicles, and project structures.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and tax requirements in Japan.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting and finance operations with a high degree of autonomy.

Requirements

  • Native or fluent Japanese with strong business-level English (reading, writing, and communication).
  • SPC accounting experience is mandatory, ideally within infrastructure, energy, real estate, or project finance sectors.
  • Background in the energy and infrastructure industry (renewables, power generation, asset-backed vehicles, project companies, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese GAAP; familiarity with IFRS is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and establish operational and accounting systems from scratch.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable working in a small team with high visibility and direct reporting to the CEO.
  • Experience in a start-up, newly established entity, or rapid-growth environment is highly valued.

What We Offer

  • High-autonomy role working directly with the CEO.
  • Opportunity to build and shape the accounting structure of a growing business.
  • Exposure to cutting‑edge energy and infrastructure investment projects.
  • Strong capital backing and long-term career development potential.
  • Competitive compensation package based on experience.
