The Role

The Senior Structural Project Manager will lead and manage building structural engineering projects from concept through construction. This role blends technical leadership, project management, and client engagement, offering meaningful ownership over projects and visibility within the firm.

Typical project work may include:

  • New building design and stand‑alone structures
  • Building expansions, renovations, repairs, and retrofits
  • Commercial, institutional, and community‑focused facilities
  • Projects requiring close coordination with architects, owners, and contractors

This is a full‑time, hybrid role based in a Midwest urban market, working closely with principals, project teams, and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Manager and Engineer of Record on building structural projects
  • Lead project scope, schedule, budget, and delivery
  • Perform and oversee structural design for steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry systems
  • Review and approve calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, and internal teams
  • Mentor and review the work of junior engineers for quality and accuracy
  • Conduct site visits, field observations, and construction support services
  • Support business development initiatives and client relationship management
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and firm quality standards

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required (SE a plus)
  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience, including project management
  • Experience leading building structural projects and interfacing directly with clients
  • Strong background in steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry design
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (RAM, RISA, Revit, or similar)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and standard productivity tools
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and deadlines
