Chief Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction
Salary: $150,000- $200,000+ Bonus(s)

A respected general contractor in the Seattle area is seeking a seasoned Chief Estimator to lead their estimating department. This is a strategic leadership role for an experienced professional who excels in managing complex bids and driving preconstruction success.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the estimating team for heavy civil projects including roadways, bridges, utilities, and site development.
- Develop and implement estimating strategies, processes, and best practices.
- Review and approve detailed cost estimates, budgets, and proposals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on business development and project pursuits.
Experience Needed
- 10+ years of experience in heavy civil estimating, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of winning bids for large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Expertise with estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Bid2Win) and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with DOT specifications and public works projects preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and contracts.
- Strategic thinker with strong negotiation and decision-making abilities.
