The Opportunity
A leading mission‑critical electrical contractor and engineering organization is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) - Electrical to support the pre‑construction and early design phases of hyperscale and large‑scale data center projects. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working upstream - shaping power infrastructure before facilities are built - and collaborating closely with project managers, estimators, and field teams to deliver constructible, code‑compliant solutions.
This position is fully remote, with a preference for candidates based in the West Coast / PST time zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pre‑construction and early‑stage design efforts for hyperscale and mission‑critical data center projects
- Develop and review electrical design documents, including:
- Single‑line diagrams
- Power distribution diagrams
- Point‑to‑point and control diagrams
- Perform electrical engineering calculations and power studies for large, complex data center environments
- Coordinate design intent with equipment submittals and construction requirements
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, designers, and field installation teams to ensure designs align with project scope and constructability
- Apply NEC and applicable state codes to all engineering documents
- Participate in internal and external coordination meetings with architects, MEP partners, general contractors, and owner representatives
- Support QA/QC processes through design and construction phases
- Provide technical mentorship to designers and junior engineers as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (California or transferable preferred)
- 3-6 years of electrical engineering experience within:
- Electrical design firms, or
- Design‑build electrical contractors
- 1-3 years of data center experience, with a strong emphasis on pre‑construction / early design work
- Proven experience producing and reviewing single‑line diagrams and power distribution documentation
- Familiarity with hyperscale or large‑scale mission‑critical power systems
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Working knowledge of tools such as ETAP, SKM, or similar power analysis software
- Strong communication, organization, and time‑management skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $118,000 - $155,000
- Flexibility above this range may be considered for exceptional candidates with strong data center and pre‑construction experience
- Eligible for annual performance bonus
