Position Summary

The Resident Engineer (RE) functions as the primary on-site authority for the program management team, overseeing day‑to‑day construction operations in the field. This role ensures that work adheres to approved plans, technical standards, timelines, cost objectives, and safety requirements. Acting as a central liaison, the RE facilitates coordination among contractors, designers, client representatives, and regulatory bodies to drive successful execution of construction activities within the broader program framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the owner's on-site representative during active construction.
  • Oversee daily field operations to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with contractors, design teams, inspectors, and program management personnel.
  • Conduct routine site walks and lead coordination meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Review and process contractor submittals, RFIs, change order requests, and payment applications.
  • Maintain thorough project documentation, including logs, daily reports, as-built records, and site photos.
  • Identify potential issues affecting schedule or quality, implement mitigation strategies, and escalate significant concerns.
  • Promote and enforce safety requirements aligned with OSHA regulations and project-specific protocols.
  • Participate in progress meetings and prepare updates for senior leadership and client representatives.
  • Ensure the project meets environmental, regulatory, and permitting obligations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Approximately 7-10 years of experience in construction oversight, resident engineering, or site supervision.
  • Experience working on large, complex projects or within multi‑contract program structures is desirable.
  • Understanding of various project delivery approaches (Design-Bid-Build, CM/GC, Design-Build, etc.).
  • Proficiency with construction management platforms such as Procore, Primavera P6, or MS Project.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of directly relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential.
