Civil Estimator
Our client, a heavy civil contractor with deep roots in Texas is seeking a skilled Estimator to join its corporate office in Paris, TX. The company specializes in constructing and rehabilitating water and wastewater infrastructure, including pipelines, pump stations, treatment facilities, and related civil works. Role Overview
The Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate, competitive, and timely bids for water and wastewater construction projects. This position requires strong analytical abilities, a solid understanding of civil construction means and methods, and the ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
You'll be involved in all phases of the estimating process, from initial review of plans and specifications to final proposal assembly, and help support the organization's continued growth and reputation for delivering high‑quality infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, addenda, and geotechnical reports to determine scope and constructability.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Perform quantity takeoffs using digital takeoff tools and estimating software.
- Solicit subcontractor and supplier quotes; evaluate proposals for completeness and competitiveness.
- Develop project schedules, means‑and‑methods approaches, and risk assessments for bids.
- Participate in bid strategy sessions and coordinate with leadership on pricing recommendations.
- Assist with budget development and handoff meetings for awarded projects.
- Maintain organized historical cost data and estimating templates.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, preferably in water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of underground utilities, concrete structures, excavation, and general civil construction practices.
- Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
