Position Summary
The Commissioning Manager is responsible for leading the commissioning process and closeout of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life‑safety, and fire sprinkler systems on complex construction projects. This role oversees system functionality, compliance with design and performance standards, and successful turnover. The position collaborates closely with project teams, contractors, and consultants to plan, execute, and document commissioning activities, driving quality assurance and operational readiness from construction through final handover.
Major Responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day commissioning activities on site and coordinate with project managers, contractors, and discipline teams to resolve commissioning issues and ensure aligned execution.
- Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans for all MEP/FP systems, including test requirements, inspections, factory start‑up, acceptance testing, integrated system testing, and turnover documentation
- Review commissioning scripts, provide technical recommendations, and ensure alignment with the project's design intent and performance objectives.
- Participate in factory witness testing, functional testing, inspections, and field verification.
- Maintain accurate and timely technical documentation (issue logs, meeting minutes, field reports, commissioning reports).
- Oversee planning and implementation of specialized tests, such as NETA, SCADA, controls integration, and operational verification.
- Lead Owner training sessions for commissioned systems, offering guidance on operation, performance expectations, and potential failure scenarios.
- Ability to travel to project sites within the greater regional area as required.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent trade experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in construction or engineering with a focus on commissioning; experience with mission‑critical projects is preferred.
- Nationally recognized commissioning certifications strongly preferred (CxP, BCxP, CxA, CCP, QCxP); candidates pursuing certification are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of construction practices and commissioning phases (L0-L6), with ability to meet milestone deliverables.
- Ability to assess risk, schedule impacts, and safety considerations related to commissioning activities.
- Experience integrating fire/life‑safety systems with MEP/FP systems.
- Familiarity with QA/QC processes and test and balance requirements to support system performance and commissioning readiness.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant design codes, standards, and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management tools, and commissioning platforms (e.g., BIM‑based systems, digital commissioning applications).
- Strong facilitation, documentation, communication, technical writing, and interpersonal skills.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $125,000-$175,000
- Compensation includes base salary plus annual discretionary bonus.
