Design Manager-Data Centers
A growing mission-critical design team is looking to bring on a Design Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex data center projects. This role will focus heavily on hyperscale and enterprise environments, supporting projects that sit at the core of the business.
Position Overview
The Design Project Manager will take ownership of projects from early planning through design completion and construction support. This person will act as the central point of coordination across multidisciplinary teams and will be responsible for managing scope, schedule, budget, and resources while maintaining strong client relationships. The role requires someone comfortable working in fast-paced environments with multiple stakeholders and technically demanding projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional design teams including electrical, mechanical, structural, ICT, architectural, and BIM/VDC professionals
- Oversee the full project lifecycle, from proposal and kickoff through design and construction support
- Serve as the primary client contact and maintain long-term relationships
- Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans
- Track project financials, including forecasting, invoicing, and change management
- Run coordination meetings, design reviews, and internal check-ins
- Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams
- Identify risks early and put mitigation strategies in place
- Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations
- Support business development efforts such as proposals and client presentations
- Mentor team members and help drive collaboration and accountability across disciplines
What They're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related technical field
- At least 7 years of experience managing projects in engineering, architecture, or consulting environments
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on data center, mission-critical, or other highly technical projects
- Strong track record managing scope, budgets, schedules, and client relationships
- Experience supporting projects through both design and construction phases
- Solid understanding of mission-critical infrastructure, including power systems, HVAC, and low-voltage/ICT systems
- Familiarity with tools such as Revit, BIM 360/ACC, Revizto, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project
Preferred Background
- Experience with hyperscale or enterprise data center projects
- Professional Engineer or Registered Architect designation
- PMP certification
- Experience in BIM/VDC environments
- Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
