Director of Construction - Data Centers
Director of Construction - Data Center Delivery
Location: Miami, FL (Brickell) - office-based with regular site presence
Type: Full-time
The Opportunity
We're working with a high-growth digital infrastructure platform delivering large-scale, AI-ready data center campuses backed by serious capital and long-term commitments. They're looking to bring on a Director of Construction to take full delivery ownership of a ground‑up data center build - from early works through commissioning and handover.
This is a true owner-side execution role. You will be the day-to-day accountable lead on your project, owning schedule, cost, safety, quality, and the relationship with the prime contractor. You'll have support from junior team members (analyst/associate level), but this is a hands-on role for someone who wants to run the build, not manage from a distance.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Project Delivery & Ownership
- Lead a large, mission-critical data center project end-to-end, from groundbreaking through commissioning and turnover.
- Own delivery outcomes across schedule, budget, safety, quality, and operational readiness.
- Act as the primary owner-side representative on site and with the GC.
Construction Lifecycle Management
- Manage all phases of construction delivery: planning, design coordination, permitting interface, mobilisation, vertical build, commissioning, and closeout.
- Ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction into field execution with clear scopes, drawings, and site alignment.
- Maintain focus on reliability, scalability, and build quality required for high-density environments.
Execution Excellence
- Implement standardised processes, reporting cadence, and site governance to drive predictable delivery.
- Own change order management across internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and the prime contractor.
- Identify opportunities to improve constructability, schedule performance, and cost efficiency.
Contractor & Vendor Management
- Support GC selection and lead day-to-day performance management throughout the build.
- Work closely with legal and finance on AIA-style contracts, change events, claims, and commercial negotiations.
- Hold contractors and vendors accountable to scope, schedule, safety, and quality standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with design, engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure successful integration into the wider portfolio.
- Act as the on-site escalation point for construction-related issues.
What They're Looking For
- 8-15+ years of construction management experience, ideally across data centers, mission-critical, or complex industrial projects.
- Proven experience delivering at least one large-scale project end-to-end as the accountable owner or lead.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, commissioning requirements, and reliability-driven construction.
- Solid commercial capability: bid processes, AIA contracts, change management, and contractor negotiations.
- A hands-on builder who is comfortable being close to the site and field teams.
- Experience using tools such as Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar.
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Working Environment
The role is based in-office at corporate HQ in Brickell (Miami), with regular time spent at the active project site.
Why This Role
- Clear project ownership with real accountability.
- Exposure to high-profile, large-scale AI-focused data center development.
- Opportunity to grow with a platform that is scaling fast and investing heavily in delivery capability.
