Geotechnical Branch Manager

Overview

An established, multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Geotechnical Branch Manager to lead and grow its San Antonio operations. This is a rare opportunity to take the helm of a high‑potential office with the full backing of a well‑resourced, well‑respected organization that is deeply committed to expansion across Texas.

If you're an entrepreneurial geotechnical leader who thrives on building teams, developing markets, and shaping the future of an entire region, this position stands out from traditional branch management roles. This is not a "maintain what already exists" type of assignment-this is a build, lead, and grow mandate.

Why This Role Is Unique

Full Support for Growth

Unlike many branch-level positions where managers are left to operate independently, this firm provides comprehensive organizational support-technical, operational, financial, marketing, and business development-to fuel the San Antonio branch's success. You'll have autonomy in your local decisions, backed by a company that genuinely invests in its leaders.

Clear Pathway to Regional Leadership

This is a foundational leadership role with a defined path to overseeing all three Texas offices. As the San Antonio branch grows under your direction, you will be positioned to step into a broader regional leadership role, setting strategic direction, shaping culture, and influencing long-term expansion across the state.

A Company Positioned for Long-Term Success

The firm behind this opportunity has an exceptional reputation in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, environmental services, and structural diagnostics. With decades of stability, strong technical credibility, and a culture centered on collaboration and empowerment, it is poised for significant growth in Texas. You will be stepping into a business where geotechnical excellence is not just a division-it's a pillar of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the San Antonio geotechnical branch, including technical operations, staff oversight, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
  • Drive strategic growth initiatives within the San Antonio market, including business development, client relationship expansion, and identification of new market opportunities.
  • Mentor, develop, and grow a high-performing technical team-supporting recruitment, training, and long-term staff development.
  • Oversee project execution to ensure high-quality deliverables, technical accuracy, and alignment with firm-wide standards.
  • Serve as the face of the branch in the local community-representing the office with clients, industry partners, and regional associations.
  • Collaborate closely with firm leadership across Texas and nationally to align strategy, share resources, and scale operations.
  • Position the branch for expansion into additional service lines or market sectors as growth accelerates.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain in Texas.
  • 8-15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, ideally with progressive leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, client management, and team leadership.
  • Strong technical foundation in geotechnical investigation, analysis, design, and project delivery.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset-comfortable leading growth, shaping culture, and building a branch's identity.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

What This Opportunity Offers

  • High visibility within an expanding organization.
  • Authority and autonomy to shape future operations.
  • An environment where innovation, initiative, and leadership are rewarded.
  • A long-term leadership trajectory-from branch leader to multi-office oversight.
  • Support from an organization that wants you to succeed, not one that expects you to do everything alone.
