Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and commercially minded Junior Sales Broker (Carbon) to join their Melbourne or Sydney office. In this role, you will play an integral part in expanding brokerage activities across Australian electricity, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and environmental certificate markets. Working within a high‑performing team, you will contribute to both market development and analytical functions while developing strong relationships with key industry participants.
Key Responsibilities
Brokerage & Structured Transactions
- Originate, negotiate, and execute transactions across Australian Electricity and Environmental Markets.
- Support structured deals that generate commercial and strategic value for clients.
Client Account Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with high‑value clients across energy and environmental markets.
- Provide timely, responsive service while understanding client needs and tailoring brokerage solutions accordingly.
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in electricity, renewable energy, and environmental certificate markets.
- Contribute to market strategies, business development initiatives, and brand visibility.
- Attend industry conferences and networking events to enhance market presence.
Data Compilation & Market Analysis
- Compile, interpret, and analyse market data to provide insights for decision‑making.
- Conduct research on regulatory changes, market trends, and industry developments.
- Prepare reports, analysis, and occasional presentations using Excel and PowerPoint.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Support day‑to‑day brokerage operations to ensure smooth execution and compliance.
- Assist with internal coordination, meeting preparation, and operational tasks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong communication and commercial sales skills, with the ability to engage high‑value clients.
- Experience in one or more of the following (preferred):
- Commodity Markets
- Australian Electricity Markets
- Retail Energy
- Renewable Energy Markets
- Environmental Certificates / Environmental Commerce
- Familiarity with options trading is an advantage.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced, competitive environment with strong problem‑solving skills.
