The Role
We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for a growing automation-focused business based in Toledo, Ohio. This position is ideal for someone with strong experience in Allen-Bradley PLCs/HMIs, servo motion, VFDs, and robotics, who enjoys both technical problem-solving and taking ownership of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission industrial control systems
- Develop and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications
- Work with servo systems and advanced motion control applications
- Configure and optimize VFDs and PowerFlex drives
- Support applications involving:
- Camming profiles
- Electronic gearing
- General motion control systems
- Integrate and support robotic automation systems
- Create and modify electrical/control drawings using AutoCAD
- Support machine startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting both on-site and remotely
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to deliver successful automation projects
- Contribute to the future growth and structure of the controls engineering team
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a Controls Engineer or Senior Controls Engineer role
- Strong background with:
- Allen-Bradley PLCs
- Allen-Bradley HMIs
- Servo motion systems
- VFDs / PowerFlex drives
- Experience with camming profiles and electronic gearing
- AutoCAD experience
- Robotics experience with Fanuc or ABB
(experience with both would be highly preferred) - Strong troubleshooting and commissioning experience
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 20%, including occasional travel to Mexico
