Position Summary

The Managing Consultant will lead engagements focused on resource adequacy, system planning, and energy market analysis. This role blends technical expertise with leadership, client management, and business development. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and effective communicator who can manage complex modeling projects, advise clients, and mentor junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead consulting projects for regional transmission organizations and utility clients involving integrated resource planning and resource adequacy analysis.
  • Implement and optimize integrated resource planning software for large-scale utilities, developers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct and oversee studies evaluating renewable and emerging technologies such as solar, wind, energy storage, and demand response.
  • Develop and present expert testimony on resource adequacy frameworks and modeling outcomes.
  • Build and maintain client relationships; lead proposal development, project scoping, and presentations.
  • Manage and mentor consulting staff, including workload allocation and professional development.
  • Collaborate with software, data, and engineering teams to ensure analytical rigor and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in generation or resource planning, ideally in a consulting, utility, or ISO environment.
  • Proven expertise in resource adequacy studies and system modeling.
  • Experience with SERVM preferred; familiarity with other production cost models (e.g., Encompass, PLEXOS, Aurora, PROMOD) is a plus.
  • Strong background in client-facing project management and analytical solution development.
  • Solid understanding of power systems operations, modeling, and reliability assessment.
  • Experience with software development for power system simulation tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
