Mechanical Design Engineer

A nationally recognized MEP design firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its New York City office. This is an opportunity to work on world-class, architecturally significant projects with a firm known for its technical excellence, collaborative culture, and commitment to sustainability.

Position Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer will contribute to the design and delivery of complex HVAC systems for a variety of building types. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, passionate about sustainable design, and experienced in managing projects from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop sustainable mechanical system concepts and communicate design options to clients and stakeholders
  • Produce high-quality HVAC construction documents and technical specifications
  • Perform engineering calculations, including heating and cooling load analysis
  • Conduct building assessments and prepare due diligence reports
  • Participate in construction administration, including site visits, punch lists, RFIs, and contractor coordination
  • Mentor junior engineering staff and support their technical development
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent project delivery

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
  • LEED Accreditation preferred
  • Strong knowledge of NYC Building Code and NFPA standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, and HVAC simulation tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience across all project phases, from schematic design to construction administration
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset
