A respected Colorado-based civil engineering and surveying firm is seeking experienced Survey Party Chiefs to support a growing backlog of Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) projects. Positions are available in either Glenwood Springs or Durango, offering the chance to work in some of the most scenic areas of the state while contributing to critical transportation infrastructure.

This is a great opportunity for field-savvy professionals who enjoy leading crews, solving problems on-site, and delivering high-quality survey data for roadway, bridge, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead field survey crews on CDOT and municipal transportation projects.
  • Perform topographic, boundary, construction staking, and control surveys.
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment including GPS, total stations, and data collectors.
  • Ensure accurate field data collection and proper documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and CAD staff to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Mentor junior crew members and support their technical development.
  • Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with CDOT procedures and specifications.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of field survey experience, with at least 1 year in a crew chief or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of CDOT survey standards and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Trimble or Leica equipment and survey software.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel to project sites as needed.
