The person in this position will oversee the full lifecycle of survey‑related project activities that support engineering design, while also serving as a technical resource as needed. Strong accountability, reliable work habits, and the ability to coordinate staff workflow and schedules are essential, as the role requires tracking and directing day‑to‑day project progress.

This position also involves supervising and mentoring junior team members who perform tasks such as drafting, modeling, field data collection, LiDAR acquisition, and other survey‑specific duties associated with producing standard deliverables (including maps, plans, legal descriptions, and related documentation).

A thorough understanding of common industry challenges, required procedures, and applicable municipal, county, state, and federal standards is expected. The role demands extensive hands‑on experience and the capability to work independently-solving problems, developing practical solutions, and supporting efficient and cost‑effective project delivery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to implement effective work strategies, and a commitment to team leadership and mentorship.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead technical execution and perform QA/QC on survey plans, documents, and all associated deliverables.
  • Prepare proposals, Statements of Qualifications, and related materials.
  • Coach staff, support professional development initiatives, and contribute to long‑term succession planning.
  • Engage with existing clients through business development, networking, and participation in industry events.
  • Improve project delivery performance by promoting consistent processes and standards.

Registration / Certification Requirements

  • Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required.
  • Multiple state licenses (NJ, NY, PA, and others) are highly preferred.

Experience & Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional land surveying experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong ability to interpret and evaluate survey/engineering documents, perform boundary analysis, and prepare detailed descriptions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Experience using Deltek Vision for project management.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Hands‑on experience with survey field equipment (Trimble preferred), including GNSS RTK systems, total stations, terrestrial LiDAR scanners, and related tools.
  • Proficiency with survey processing and LiDAR software such as Trimble Business Center or similar platforms.
