Project Finance Director
Our client is an established renewable energy platform developer and investor with a strong focus on utility-scale and distributed renewable assets across Asia. The company develops, finances, and operates projects across multiple technologies, with Taiwan being a core strategic market supported by long-term government policy, a mature financing ecosystem, and large-scale capital deployment. As the Taiwan portfolio continues to expand, the company is seeking a senior finance leader to strengthen its project financing capabilities.
Role Overview
The Project Finance Director will be responsible for leading and executing project financing activities for renewable energy projects in Taiwan, from development through financial close. This role will play a pivotal part in structuring bankable transactions, managing lender relationships, and supporting the overall investment and growth strategy of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project finance execution for renewable energy projects, including debt structuring, financial modelling, lender engagement, and financial close.
- Develop and maintain robust project finance models, incorporating construction, operating, and downside scenarios.
- Manage relationships with local and international banks, DFIs, ECAs, and other financing partners in Taiwan.
- Coordinate closely with internal development, legal, tax, technical, and commercial teams to ensure bankability and timely execution.
- Support negotiation of term sheets, loan agreements, security packages, and financing conditions precedent.
- Provide input on capital structuring, equity returns, and refinancing strategies across the portfolio.
- Monitor financial aspects during construction and operations, including drawdowns, covenant compliance, and cash flow optimisation.
- Act as a senior finance counterpart to joint venture partners, investors, and external advisors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10-15+ years of experience in project finance within renewable energy, infrastructure, or power markets.
- Strong track record of closing project-financed deals in Taiwan or comparable Asian markets.
- In-depth understanding of non-recourse and limited-recourse financing structures.
- Experience working with commercial banks, lenders' advisers, legal counsel, and technical consultants.
- Excellent financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels.
- Proficiency in English; Mandarin proficiency would be a strong advantage.
