Senior Project Manager - Substations
Salary Band: $140,000 - $190,000 + performance-based incentives

Role Overview

Senior-level project management leadership for large-scale substation construction and modernization programs. Accountable for full lifecycle delivery of complex utility substation projects with direct responsibility for cost, schedule, risk, and performance outcomes. Acts as the primary owner of financial controls, execution strategy, and stakeholder alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of high-voltage substation construction, expansion, and upgrade projects.
  • Establish and manage Earned Value Management (EVM) systems to track cost, schedule, productivity, and forecast accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules; drive critical path analysis and recovery plans.
  • Own project cost management: estimating, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and change control.
  • Direct field and office teams to ensure adherence to scope, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, OEMs, and engineering partners to maintain schedule and cost discipline.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on project performance, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with utility substation standards, construction best practices, and contractual obligations.
  • Proactively identify risks and implement corrective actions to protect margin and delivery commitments.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience managing substation construction projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Earned Value Management and cost control on large, multi-million-dollar programs.
  • Proven record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Deep understanding of substation construction methods, equipment integration, sequencing, and regulatory environments.
  • Experience managing complex schedules, multiple crews, and concurrent workstreams.
