Quality Manager (Rail)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Rail Construction Quality Manager to oversee quality assurance and control across transit infrastructure projects. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of direct experience working with NYCT (New York City Transit)/NYCTA (New York City Transit Authority), or LIRR (Long Island Rail Road), and a deep understanding of transit construction standards, inspection protocols, and documentation requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement project-specific Quality Management Plans (QMPs) in accordance with NYCT/NYCTA, or LIRR standards.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contract specifications, drawings, and applicable codes.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and quality reviews of work performed by contractors and subcontractors.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Coordinate with client representatives, third-party inspectors, and internal teams to resolve quality issues.
- Maintain accurate and organized quality documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and certifications.
- Provide training and guidance to project staff on quality procedures and best practices.
- Support project closeout by ensuring all quality records and deliverables are complete and compliant.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of quality management experience in rail or heavy civil construction, specifically on NYCT/NYCTA, or LIRR projects.
- Strong knowledge of transit construction methods, materials, and QA/QC procedures.
- Familiarity with MTA quality standards and documentation protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical standards.
- Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Certifications such as CQM, ASQ CQE, or similar
- Experience with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems
- Familiarity with union labor environments and public agency coordination
