A top‑tier heavy civil contractor in the Denver market is seeking a skilled Senior Estimator to support growing work across Colorado's transportation and infrastructure sectors. This is a key strategic role responsible for preparing accurate, competitive bids and ensuring the successful acquisition of major civil projects.
Position Overview
As a Senior Estimator, you will lead the estimating process for large‑scale heavy civil projects-including DOT highway work, mass earthwork, grading, and wet utilities. You'll work closely with company leadership, project management teams, vendors, and partners to build cost‑effective proposals and strengthen market competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead estimating efforts for highway, roadway, earthwork, and underground utility projects.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid packages.
- Analyze drawings, specs, addenda, and project requirements.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Support value engineering, constructability reviews, and risk analysis.
- Collaborate with project managers and field leadership to align estimates with production realities.
- Assist in preconstruction planning and proposal development for DOT and municipal clients.
- Maintain strong industry relationships to ensure competitive market positioning.
Qualifications
- 5-7+ years of experience estimating heavy civil construction projects.
- Strong background in DOT highway work, earthwork, and wet utilities (water, sewer, storm).
- Proficiency with estimating software and digital takeoff tools.
- Solid understanding of CDOT requirements, specs, and bid processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Team-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.
