About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Traffic Engineer with strong expertise in VISSIM to join our remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, calibrating, and analyzing microsimulation traffic models to support a variety of transportation planning and engineering projects across the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and calibrate microsimulation models using VISSIM for urban corridors, intersections, and freeway systems.
- Analyze traffic operations and evaluate improvement alternatives using simulation outputs.
- Prepare technical reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including planners, engineers, and data analysts.
- Support traffic impact studies, signal timing optimization, and corridor studies.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in traffic simulation and modeling.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in traffic engineering with a strong focus on VISSIM.
- Proficiency in traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, SIDRA, or HCS is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with scripting in VISSIM using COM interface (e.g., Python or VBA).
- Familiarity with traffic signal systems and control strategies.
- PE or PTOE certification is a plus but not required.
