Project Summary

A large-scale joint venture has been awarded a multibillion-dollar contract to deliver a major infrastructure development project. This initiative involves complex civil construction work and represents one of the most significant undertakings of its kind in the region. The project spans several miles and includes extensive structural, environmental, and logistical components.

We are currently seeking a Safety Manager to oversee safety compliance and program implementation across a designated area of this high-profile construction project.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of safety professionals to ensure consistent application of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Organize and facilitate safety meetings and training sessions for personnel in the assigned area.
  • Coordinate with emergency response teams to plan drills, site familiarization visits, and incident response strategies.
  • Conduct and document regular site inspections and audits, focusing on hazard identification, unsafe behaviors, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee the development and review of job hazard analyses for each phase of work, and coordinate necessary training.
  • Maintain and submit safety documentation, including inspection reports and certifications from regulatory bodies and insurers.
  • Serve as the primary contact during inspections and investigations by regulatory agencies to ensure full compliance.
  • Conduct field inspections of work areas and equipment to verify adherence to safety standards.
  • Design and implement safety programs that align with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of safety experience in construction, particularly in heavy civil or infrastructure projects.
  • Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or actively pursuing certification.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training completed.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor-Construction (STS-C) certification.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
  • Ability to work in diverse physical environments, including indoor/outdoor settings and varying weather conditions.
  • Familiarity with OSHA construction standards and applicable state and federal safety regulations.
  • Strong hazard recognition and independent decision-making skills.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to manage sensitive information.
  • Capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment, including extended hours when necessary.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  • Experience in marine, tunnel, or highway construction.
  • Additional certifications such as CSP, ASP, or GSP.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $155,000 - $170,000 annually

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced and dynamic construction environment.
  • Responsibilities may include overseeing heavy equipment operations and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and high-visibility vests while on-site.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent walking and standing in both office and field settings.
  • Occasional climbing and bending required.
