About the Role

A well-established environmental and engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Cultural Resources Lead (Principal Investigator level) to support and grow its cultural resources practice. This role combines project leadership, team management, and technical field oversight across a variety of infrastructure and environmental projects.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience managing cultural resources compliance projects, overseeing fieldwork, and mentoring junior staff, while also contributing to business development and regional growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cultural resources projects from proposal through completion, ensuring delivery on schedule and within budget
  • Serve as Principal Investigator on archaeological and cultural resource studies
  • Oversee fieldwork activities, including surveys, monitoring, testing, and data recovery
  • Conduct artifact analysis and contribute to technical reporting and documentation
  • Manage and mentor cultural resources staff within a regional team
  • Support preparation of proposals, scopes of work, and regulatory permits
  • Maintain and expand client relationships across public and private sectors
  • Collaborate with leadership to support regional growth and operational effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local cultural resource regulations
  • Participate in professional organizations and industry engagement efforts

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Historic Preservation, or a related field
  • 7+ years of relevant cultural resources experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Section 106 compliance and environmental regulations
  • Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites
