Key Responsibilities

  1. Engineering Design & Implementation

    • Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of metering systems for interconnection projects, including traditional and renewable generation, distributed energy resources, and large commercial customers.
    • Develop and apply custom solutions for complex metering scenarios, including transformer loss compensation and multi-point metering schemes.
  2. Regulatory Compliance & Standards

    • Ensure all metering systems meet applicable regulatory and operational standards (e.g., ISO/RTO markets, NERC BAL-005, utility tariffs).
    • Interpret and apply evolving compliance requirements to metering infrastructure and documentation.
  3. Project Leadership

    • Manage and coordinate large-scale or technically complex metering projects from concept through execution.
    • Oversee project scope, schedule, and resource planning, including coordination with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  4. Technical Expertise & Support

    • Serve as a subject matter expert on metering technologies, standards, and best practices.
    • Provide technical guidance to engineering teams, field personnel, and external partners.
    • Lead investigations into metering discrepancies, data anomalies, and billing issues.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement

    • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, operations, regulatory, IT) and external entities (utilities, customers, vendors, regulatory agencies) to ensure alignment on metering requirements and solutions.
    • Present technical findings and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  6. Innovation & Continuous Improvement

    • Identify opportunities to enhance metering accuracy, reliability, and efficiency through new technologies and process improvements.
    • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments through active participation in industry groups and research initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related applied science field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, with a strong focus on metering, controls, or utility systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience in the electric utility or energy sector.
  • Familiarity with metering standards, codes, and safety practices.
  • Background in nuclear energy systems (for roles involving nuclear facilities).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop creative technical solutions.
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies and compliance frameworks.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated expertise in revenue metering and interconnection metering systems.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement in utility metering practices.
