Senior Mechanical Engineer - Healthcare Projects

A well‑established engineering group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with deep experience in healthcare facility design. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex projects, interface directly with clients, and shape mechanical system strategies for hospitals, medical office buildings, surgical centers, and other clinical environments.
What You'll Do
- Lead HVAC and mechanical system design for healthcare facilities, including patient care areas, surgical suites, central plants, labs, and specialized environments
- Develop mechanical and plumbing system layouts, equipment selections, load calculations, and construction documents
- Ensure compliance with healthcare codes and standards (ASHRAE, FGI Guidelines, NFPA, state AHCA-equivalent requirements, etc.)
- Coordinate closely with architects, electrical engineers, medical equipment planners, and other project stakeholders
- Conduct site visits, field verification, and provide construction-phase support
- Manage project scope, schedules, QA/QC, and client expectations
- Mentor junior engineers and oversee technical design work
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience (healthcare projects required)
- Strong background in healthcare HVAC systems, infection control airflow strategies, redundancy requirements, and medical environment design
- Experience with plumbing systems for healthcare (medical gas, RO/DI, lab waste, specialty systems)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead client-facing discussions
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
