Senior Project Manager - Traffic

A well-established engineering and design firm is seeking a results-driven, collaborative, and innovative professional to serve as a Regional Discipline Leader for its Traffic Planning division in the Detroit Metro area. This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape regional strategy, lead high-impact projects, and mentor a growing team of traffic professionals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage traffic planning staff and projects across the Detroit Metro region.
  • Drive business development efforts, including proposals and contract execution with MDOT and local agencies.
  • Ensure project quality, client satisfaction, profitability, and team productivity.
  • Oversee billing, budgeting, and financial performance of traffic planning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across offices to share resources and expertise.
  • Mentor staff, manage performance, and support professional development.
  • Uphold health and safety standards and ensure adherence to quality control procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in traffic planning/engineering, including coordination with MDOT or similar agencies.
  • 7+ years of experience managing teams, budgets, and client relationships.
  • Michigan PE license required (or ability to obtain promptly); PTOE certification preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
