Senior Structural Engineer
A nationally recognized structural engineering consultancy with a reputation for technical excellence and complex, high-profile projects is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Los Angeles office. This is an opportunity to work alongside some of the most respected engineers in the industry on projects that push the boundaries of structural design.
About the Role
You will take a leadership role in the analysis and design of challenging structures across a variety of project types and market sectors. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and specialists, contribute to innovative problem-solving, and help mentor the next generation of structural engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and analysis across all project phases, from concept through construction administration
- Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff
- Manage project scope, schedule, and client communication
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (CBC, IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, etc.)
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (structural focus)
- California Structural Engineer (SE) license required
- 10+ years of structural engineering experience, with exposure to complex or technically demanding projects
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, RAM)
- Strong working knowledge of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry systems
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills
- Experience with seismic design in California strongly preferred
