About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our team in San Diego. In this role, you'll lead the planning, design, and delivery of essential water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure projects throughout the region. This is an opportunity to make a significant community impact while working in one of California's most active and innovative water markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the design of water, wastewater, and recycled water conveyance and treatment systems, including pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities, and treatment processes.
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet schedule, budget, and client expectations.
- Prepare and review engineering analyses, design reports, technical memoranda, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with internal engineering disciplines, subconsultants, and construction support teams.
- Serve as a technical expert and trusted advisor to municipal clients, public utilities, and water districts in the San Diego region.
- Support permitting, regulatory coordination, and presentation of technical concepts to stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to staff development.
- Assist with proposal writing, scoping, fee development, and other business development activities when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or a related engineering field (Master's preferred).
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- 8-15+ years of progressive experience in water/wastewater engineering, including design and project management.
- Strong technical background in hydraulic modeling, treatment processes, and/or pumping and conveyance design.
- Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WaterCAD/SewerCAD, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client service skills.
- Experience working with Southern California water agencies is a plus.
