Senior Water Resources Project Manager
Virginia | Hybrid Working | $120,000 - $160,000 Base Salary + Bonus + Employee Ownership
A nationally recognized, employee-owned engineering consulting firm is looking to add a Senior Water Resources Project Manager to support the continued growth of its Virginia operations.
This is an opportunity to join a well-established multidisciplinary engineering organization with a strong transportation presence and long-standing relationships across state agencies, municipalities, and private sector clients. The team is experiencing significant growth across stormwater, drainage, watershed management, and MS4 compliance programs throughout Virginia.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering and managing water resources projects while helping to expand the firm's presence across the Mid-Atlantic region. You'll work closely with technical specialists, transportation teams, and local government clients to deliver innovative solutions to complex stormwater and drainage challenges.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and manage water resources projects from planning through delivery
- Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, and client relationships
- Design and review stormwater management and drainage systems
- Manage erosion and sediment control and environmental permitting efforts
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and watershed studies
- Support MS4 permit compliance and TMDL implementation programs
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates
- Coordinate with agencies, municipalities, contractors, and subconsultants
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
- Support business development efforts, proposals, and client presentations
- Assist with growing the firm's water resources practice across Virginia
Ideal Background
- PE License in Virginia (or ability to obtain quickly)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- 10+ years of civil engineering experience with a strong water resources focus
- Expertise in stormwater management, drainage design, and permitting
- Experience working on transportation-related water resources projects
- Knowledge of Virginia stormwater regulations and permitting requirements
- Familiarity with MS4 programs, TMDLs, and watershed management initiatives
- Experience working with local and state agencies throughout Virginia
- Strong project management and client-facing experience
