Substation project manager
An established power delivery and utility services company is seeking an experienced Substation Project Manager to support substation engineering and construction projects across the Fort Worth and Lewisville, Texas region. This role requires a hands‑on professional with strong experience in substation projects and the ability to manage complex utility initiatives from planning through closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of substation projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and closeout.
- Oversee project scope, cost estimates, resource planning, and construction coordination for greenfield and brownfield substation work.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams, field leadership, contractors, suppliers, and utility clients to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Track project performance, schedules, and budgets; identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
- Support proposal development, cost estimating, and project forecasting to assist business development and regional growth.
- Ensure all work meets safety requirements, company standards, and applicable federal, state, and utility regulations.
Experience Needed
- Minimum 5+ years of substation project experience, including roles in project management, construction management, or engineering support.
- Minimum 5+ years of project management experience within the power delivery or utility sector.
- Strong background in substation construction, equipment installation, and commissioning activities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, contractors, and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Solid understanding of project budgeting, cost controls, contracts, and scheduling.
- Experience working with utility owners, EPCs, or municipal entities preferred.
Qualifications Needed
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field; equivalent industry experience considered.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.) and standard office software.
- Ability to read and interpret substation drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Knowledge of safety standards, permitting, and utility construction practices.
- PMP certification or similar credentials are a plus.
