Survey Crew Chief
Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Survey Crew Chief to join their growing team in Birmingham, MI. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to take on diverse projects while advancing their career in land surveying.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage field survey crews on a variety of project types, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data collection.
- Collaborate with project managers and licensed surveyors to plan and execute survey assignments.
- Conduct fieldwork for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, and construction layout.
- Operate GPS and robotic total stations to gather and record survey data.
- Maintain and care for all assigned survey equipment and ensure proper use by team members.
- Promote safety on job sites and ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
- Train and mentor junior field staff to support their technical development.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and the public.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Survey Crew Chief or similar field leadership role.
- Strong background in boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and construction staking.
- Familiarity with Trimble equipment is a plus, though not required.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Carlson Survey software is preferred.
- Coursework or training in surveying principles is advantageous.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
