Our client is a well-established regional consulting firm specializing in surveying, transportation, structural, and construction services. With over 50 years of experience and a strong reputation as an award-winning firm, they have become a trusted partner to public and private agencies across the Midwest. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a Survey Manager to join their Kansas City office and step into a key leadership role-guiding an established team, supporting ongoing projects, and helping drive future initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage survey staff, including field crews, office technicians, and support personnel
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee daily survey operations and project workload
  • Ensure all surveys meet quality standards, accuracy requirements, and regulatory compliance
  • Review and approve plats, boundary surveys, legal descriptions, and related documentation
  • Establish and maintain survey procedures, workflows, and best practices
  • Allocate resources, equipment, and personnel to meet project demands
  • Perform QA/QC reviews on survey data, calculations, and deliverables
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients
  • Support proposal development, scoping, and project planning
  • Mentor, train, and evaluate staff, driving team growth and performance
  • Oversee survey technology, equipment usage, and process improvements
  • Assist with field operations as needed, including troubleshooting and site support

Qualifications

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (Missouri and/or Kansas required)
  • 10+ years of land surveying experience, including leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles, boundary law, and industry standards
  • Experience managing multiple crews, schedules, and survey operations
  • Proficient with survey equipment (Trimble, Leica, GPS, total stations)
  • Proficiency in survey software (AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with transportation, commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects
