System Operator
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring and controlling transmission assets via SCADA
- Executing switching procedures, outage coordination, and safety protocols
- Establishing protection zones and issuing operational directives
- Conducting system studies to maintain grid reliability
- Documenting system events, outages, and environmental/security checks
- Handling after-hours service calls and dispatching personnel
- Responding to emergency situations such as environmental incidents or security alerts
Ideal Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred
- NERC Reliability or Transmission Operator Certification (or ability to obtain within one year)
- Five years of relevant experience preferred, or completion of an internal apprenticeship program
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, voltage regulation, and outage management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong decision-making, multitasking, and crisis management abilities
